We went for brunch on a Saturday morning. We got there right at 10:00 am and sat outside because we did not have a reservation. They were booked until Noon inside the restaurant. We all ordered the classic mimosa. It was very good!! The food was great! I ordered the quiche and it came with a fresh side salad. We enjoyed our brunch and we will be back!!

My wife and I went to Louie's Wine Dive recently on a Saturday for brunch. Our intention for going was to partake in the bottomless mimosas. However, when we arrived, we were greeted and notified of "changes to the menu," which included the ridding of bottomless mimosas. They still serve pitchers of mimosas for $9/each, which isn't too bad, but it's unfortunate their online menu wasn't updated to indicate as such. We ordered a few brunch items, which were decent, but not overly impressive. After visiting, I wouldn't say this place would be my first brunch choice going forward, but it was OK overall.

Love this place from beginning to end!!! Great food and wonderful friendly device. Doesn't get better.

Had Saturday brunch here this past weekend. Waited two weeks to get a reservation. The restaurant was busy despite the snowy weather. The mimosas were wonderful. The food however...left much to be desired. Everything looked beautiful but had a very bland flavor. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and my boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. Both of us were very underwhelmed. Even with salt and pepper, it didn't get better. If you're looking for mimosas and don't care about food, this is the place. If you want yummy food...head down to Avenues Bistro on 63rd street.

You can tell a lot of time and effort went into perfecting the menu here. The atmosphere is welcoming and hip. Love the food... Love the mimosas... Love the options. Yum!

Best brunch in Waldo. Dinner isn't as memorable as brunch, and slightly expensive. Good for dranks and time though.

The bottomless mimosa brunch is an excellent deal at $12. I was torn between the chicken fried steak or the crab cake benny, but fortunately my friend got the benedict so I had a bite. The chicken fried steak was huge! It was also delicious. The gravy was pretty spot on. I had the side of greens but I kind of wished I had asked for mashed potatoes instead. I don't know if they have that at brunch but it would've been worth asking for. We tipped our server 100% and tipped him early and he was cool let us sit there and enjoy the day and our mimosas for a solid couple of hours. He took really good care of us so if you want to take advantage of the flowing champagne that's a little tip.

WTF? Showed up at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Monday. Door was open and customers were inside. But we were told they were closing. Took our business elsewhere. Won't be back.

Very disappointed! We waited a couple years to try it... Decided to go here for brunch today. Don't waste your time! First, the waitstaff is lacking. The noise levels are ridiculous. I had a special order which was obviously was an inconvenience to everyone involved. My food was served extremely cold. No apology was offered by management. When they returned with my "redone" eggs... They weren't even cooked as per my request... The second request. I gave up and was able to choke down a few bites. The food is pretty much terrible. The drinks are mediocre at best. Too bad to say I live two blocks away and I will never return here!

Went with high expectations of an amazing brunch and was disappointed. I ordered the maple glaze wings and biscuits, wings tasted like chicken with no flavor. The biscuit was good, however there was minimal gravy on the biscuit. My friend ordered the corned pirk hash, no potatoes and it was like a soup without the broth. The mimosas were good.

This is such a great little neighborhood spot. I love sitting outside and watching the bustle of Wornall and Gregory, and the inside is pretty sweet too. Yesterday I had the Shrimp Diablo Pasta, made with Sriracha tomato cream sauce. It was decadent, but fantastic. I also tried the Lobster Poutine that my friend ordered, and that is now on my list of to-get items. Monday is two-for-one bottles, which we didn't partake in, but which seemed like a good deal. Our bottle of Prosecco was perfect for the summer weather, and our server was really attentive. Sometimes when dining outdoors the service is compromised, but this was definitely not the case. It's been a while, but I really enjoy their brunch as well.

Decided to try this joint out for Sunday brunch, afterall, it is within shouting distance of my house. My source of hesitancy was secondary only to the establishment's name because I do not drink alcohol, subsequently, I had neatly tossed this brunch place off of my destination list. I must tell you I had a fantastic brunch blue plate special! The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The only downer was the pricing, $9 for two eggs, two bacon strips, one homemade biscuit, and slightly dry potato pieces.

Sit at the bar, enjoy the food and have the staff pour a couple glasses of wine for a blind tasting. Allowed me to discover a new red. Ask to peruse their catalog of labels and tasting notes. It's behind the counter. Or just select a glass from the chalkboard menu. Food is good and would like to return to try more of the menu. Seems like a fun spot for GNO's or a casual date. Visited on a business trip.

I've eaten brunch here several times now and it is one of my favorite places to go on a Sunday morning. Their breakfast burger (the exact name escapes me) is like heaven on a plate and they have a sriacha bloody mary that is to die for. I'm not a mimosa fan but they do bottomless mimosas. And they don't hold back on the champange either when they do those. I could see myself getting into trouble with them real quick. If you are going to do brunch I recommend reservations; sometimes you're lucky and can catch a seat at the bar. Prices are on the higher end (especially considering its in Waldo) but not unreasonable. I did have one poor experience there this past weekend. They say they close at 1am and some friends and I went there a few minutes before midnight just to grab a drink. They told us that they already did last call. When I inquired about what time they closed (I thought I may have misread the sign) they said that since they hadn't been real busy they were just going to close. Which, to me, is just poor customer service. Its one thing to send your servers home and just keep a bartender on staff but its a whole other thing to just shut down.

First off... Make a reservation on a Sunday for brunch! It was slammed and we had about a 40 minute wait for a table of 4. They did lack space for people that had to wait, unless it's nice outside, then you have plenty of room. Now, on to the good stuff! Everyone we were with enjoyed their meal. I had the Mac daddy omelette with a side of breakfast potatoes. Friends had the chorizo biscuits and gravy, French toast, and the Harvest Benedict. The omelette was a mouthwatering mess! Eggs were cooked perfectly, overflowing with cheesy noodles, prosciutto and tomatoes. Everything went well together and the breakfast potatoes were well seasoned. We washed everything down with the bottomless mimosas. Of which all four varieties were very refreshing!

This may be my new favorite restaurant. It is definitely the new favorite meeting place for a friend and I because not only is it about half way for each of us, but the food and drinks are all spot on!!! This was our destination of choice for dinner before the show at Starlight. We started with a California mojito and an old fashioned. Both were fantastic! A good dose of alcohol combined masterfully with the other ingredients to make our mouths very happy. Next came an appetizer of BLT deviled eggs. I would like to say it is hard to mess up deviled eggs, but I have seen it. These were perfect. Arugula, roasted tomato, and bacon, with a delicious deviled egg that had the perfect amount of spicy mustard. The flavor combination made you hunger for another. For our dinners we decided on the Shrimp and Grits and Portobello Prosciutto & Truffle Mac. The shrimp and grits belonged to my dining buddy, but that didn't stop me from tasting it. The grits were so deliciously creamy and full of flavor. I could just eat of bowl of them without the shrimp. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and had a wonderful spice added. A bite of each together was perfection. The mac and cheese was just as amazing. Creamy and fulled of delicious cheese. The portobello mushrooms were nicely chopped into a little smaller than bite sized pieces and added a nice meaty texture to the mac and cheese. The flavor of the mushrooms was magnificent with the truffle and prosciutto. The dish did get a little heavy towards the end, but worth every bite. Both meals came with a piece of toasted bread that wasn't anything to rave about, but nothing to complain about. We split a dessert to end our meal. We decided on the rum cake. It was served with a delicious vanilla ice cream that complimented the cake perfectly. The cake was so flavorful and just melted in your mouth. The best part though was the topping. Nuts, raisins, and rum that was perfectly crispy. This could be a new granola like sensation! The service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. We sat outside at the tables lining the sidewalk. Although the intersection was quite busy, it was not disturbing at all, well except the couple of times the police went by. I also got to see my first pedal hopper cruise by and was quite entertained with the idea. Prices were great. For the quality of food you receive, the prices were actually pretty great in my opinion. If you skip this place, you are truly missing one of the gems of Kansas City. I can't wait to go back for brunch and to try the rest of their menu items! Bonus for those with restrictions... many gluten free options to choose from!

I really dig Louies. Lobster poutine and Shrimp & grits are the two items I have tried on my visits. Both were delicious. I also had a bowl of shrimp bisque that was a little pedestrian, so that is one item I would not order again. My server has been the same both times, and the dude kicks ass! He is on the ball and just know how to take care of a table... adjusting to personalities and needs of the client on the fly. Awesome. There are well over 20 wines by the glass. That's a big draw for thos who like to have only one glass or like to try different wines over the course of the dinner. The space inside is nice, but it gets LOUD!

Bottomless mimosas? Four varieties? Yes, please, to each and every, all. :) So, clearly that's how the day started. The ladies and I ventured out after church on Super Sunday. This place closed at two, earlier than usual for them, so we were grateful for our noon reservation. The service, for being rather packed, wasn't super fast but wasn't super slow either. I didn't mind it, honestly, so that tells you it wasn't tooooo sluggish. Food: the day's special lobster frittata. It had chunks of lobster, mushrooms, and maybe a cheese on top? (Sorry, I clearly came a bit late to the party and missed the explanation but as soon as someone said 'lobster' to me, I was sold.) The only thing it seemed to be missing was a tad bit of seasoning. I added salt and pepper and it was lovely. I had the potatoes on the side. They were killer and, for all you gluten-free peeps out there, the chef is super awesome about it. In fact, the server mentioned this to us, that the chef has a friend with Celiac disease so they take it very seriously. They even have a separate fryer. That is a gold mine! Awesome sauce. Drinks: ruby red bottomless mimosa. I mean, really, did you expect something else? They also have an original flavor, a grape juice version, and a cranberry flavor called hibiscus. Best thing about bottomless mimosas is that you can change flavors by the glass. I liked the ruby red (made with grapefruit juice) the best, admittedly, but I also tried the original and the cranberry ones. All in all, $11 well spent if you're going to hang out for a while a chat.
Awesome wine selection and knowledgable staff. Plus you can make your reservation on yelp! So easy!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Stopped here after the Run or Dye (after we had cleaned up) for brunch. Hands down the best brunch I've had. There were various types of mimosa options and the food was terrific and didn't leave us stuffed. We came back for date night and found it just as terrific. There was a power outage, but the attentive staff quickly brought candles to every table--even more romantic. Warning: this is not a place for children (and I tend to push the envelope with own children).

What's worse than feeling disappointment? Paying for disappointment! A girlfriend of mine ranted & raved about this place to me for months and so we finally decided to go to dinner after work. I was so excited to try several dishes she had recommended, come to find out the menu on yelp is not updated. My girlfriend doesn't eat seafood and the menu is almost all seafood. She ordered the hummus as a starter, which is the primary reason she recommended the place. Turns out, they changed the recipe and was not satisfied, yet rather than complaining, she asked them to just take it away as it tasted different and wasn't satisfying. When ordering our meals, she ordered the BLT Deviled Eggs and a Side Salad instead (since the Fig and Prosciutto Flatbread was apparently removed from the menu yet still listed on the yelp menu as if it's still available). While waiting, I decided to try a BLT Deviled Egg. There was no bacon (yelp pictures show bacon?!) and the "roasted tomatoes" tasted like they were soaked in a syrup. I also bit into something (still unknown, literally looked like a cat claw) but was probably more realistically a small bone of some sort or something. Disgusted, that was now 2 plates we could not continue eating and so far an "iffy" first time experience for me. I ordered the Littleneck Clam Linguini; as a seafood lover, I was looking forward to a great, filling meal. The portions for pasta was the smallest portion size I've ever seen but still eager to enjoy a meal, I took a bite. It was cold. The clams did not taste fresh, they were gritty and tasted like eating noodles lightly drizzled with olive oil and sand. There was no flavor aside from the seafood taste, dry and small hard yellow seeds (mustard seeds? Or something that looks similar) which makes food hard to enjoy when you're constantly biting into hard miscellaneous items. When the server returned, my friend politely asked if it should be served hot (as most are) and mentioned it to which the server said he would have it remade. At this point, we are both just ready to leave due to disappointment and lack of flavor so we ask for my remade pasta to just be put into a to-go box. When I got home (a couple blocks away) I opened the box and noticed the clam shell I had tried was in this box, therefore they did not remake it, they microwaved it. Since my friend had recommended the place and had given me such a high expectation of the place, she felt inclined to cover the whole check. She paid over $50 for a tab of 4 menu items that all were unsatisfactory, uneaten and disappointing. The server obviously knew we were unsatisfied, especially with our request for a to-go box and a tab, yet asked nothing about our experience. Apparently we should have gone for brunch as most of the reviews are based from, unfortunately...neither one of us will be returning!!!!

By far one of the best brunch offerings in KC and the staff always is on point. The Bubble Room downstairs is also a hidden gem and get your seat early to enjoy the entertainment. I had the egg Benedict's today and I have a new favorite which is local and I was actually full from the meal. A pitcher of white sangria probably helped with that though and I'm not complaining. A KC hidden gem and we will continue in coming here for years to come.

We have frequented Louie's for brunch many times since we moved to the area. We always have great customer service and amazing food. And who doesn't love bottomless mimosas?! The crab cake Benedict is great with perfectly poached eggs. The biscuits are fluffy and moist and the gravy is wonderfully spicy with chorizo. Their lunch menu is also amazing. I recommend the salmon and asparagus salad. The asparagus is slightly el dente giving it a nice crunch. This Sunday we witnessed an awesome exchange between customers and the manager. Customers came in wanting the lunch menu at 11am, the bartender/server very politely explained that the restaurant doesn't serve lunch until 4pm on Sundays. The customers were pushy and asked to speak to a manager. The server could have easily grown frustrated with the customers but we ridiculously polite and respectful. The manager explained the same thing to the customers, apologized profusely and let the customers know that if they call in advance on future Sundays then he will make sure they get a what they want. Over the course of the customer's brunch the manager and servers both came up again to check on the customers, apologize, and continue to give amazing service! Already loved the place. Now love it even more.

Oh Louie's, I wanted SO badly to give you 5-stars! Here's the problem, took the time to make reservations ahead for an important family brunch for 10, upon arriving we waited nearly 30 minutes only to be seated in the basement! I get it, they were busy. I get it, it was a big party with a small dining room....but you accepted my reservations and NO ONE EVER uttered anything close to an apology! Fast forward to the meal, the waitress did a great job of keeping up with the bottomless mimosas, and the food was fantastic! We had Shrimp grits, crab cake Benedict, and French toast. We're from Omaha and can't wait to try a brunch there with a smaller party, hoping for the best!

Probably my most favorite place in KC so far. Great place to meet friends, take significant others or brunch with the girls. Drinks are tasty, food is even tastier! Love, love, love this place!!!

Louie's food & drinks are great! Came here for brunch & got bottomless grapefruit juice mimosas for $11. I had to ask for refills because the waitress wasn't very attentive to my drink. I got the crabs Benedict - the crab cakes were flaky & delicious, although it could have used some more hollandaise. My friends got the shrimp & grits - a must to try - & the biscuits & gravy. Both were delicious. The atmosphere is great, but the servers aren't the friendliest. If only the waitress could have been as pleasant as the rest of the experience.

I'm not one to ever resist a wine dive, so when trying to decide on where to spend my first night during my brief return to KC, I set my sights on Louie's. I'm a big fan of Tannin and Boozefish, so I was eager to try KC's newest (?) wine bar. The wine list is as you'd expect, extensive. We put in an immediate order for a bottle of Valopolicella at a decent $42. And then proceeded to have what we like to call a wine night. What's a wine night? It involves bottles of wine and a decent fromage or two. And lots of catching up. Pretty typical, yet, our waiter seemed a bit, I don't know, frustrated with our lack of ordering "real food," even after we put in an order for a second bottle, making our tab for two approaching 100 bucks at that point, with the cheese we had ordered as well. And we did say we were eating dinner at some point. What's the rush? It's Friday night and the wine is flowing. Around the time we put a significant dent in the second bottle, two more friends arrived and we figured it was a good time to order dinner. The friend I had arrived with asked for the special fish the waiter had described when we first sat down. But how dare she, as of course that special had run out already. "Ma'am, that was what I told you about when you arrived an hour and a half ago," our waiter practically scolded her. It was downright weird. Luckily the menu featured a similar entree involving fish and all was right in the world. I ordered the hummus which was kind of meh, definitely not in the league of hummus hall of fame, I'm not gonna lie. They do have a lot of vegetarian items on the menu so if I return, I'll be sure and check some of them out. The cheese plate we shared was better than decent but the bread was absolutely stale and that's just not acceptable. One other thing bears mentioning: this place does not in the slightest live up to its name. Undoubtedly there's wine, but it ain't no dive by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it's approaching upscale casual up in here. I can see this appealing to the more conservative of the Waldo set and less to the hipster contingent. I'm not either - I just appreciate the atmosphere of the wine dive that was here in NOLA, kind of Paris slum meets artist bordello but hey, there's a lot you can do with that sorta vibe so that it's not all Miller High Life signs and filthy barstools.

wish our service had been better, as that can really ruin an evening out. We sat for a while with no greeting, and when she finally made her way over, no apologies, no introduction, just a " do you know what you want to drink?" Hubs had the crab cakes, I had the fish and chips. Solid food.

I may have found my new brunch spot! My friends and I have been lamenting the decline of All You Can Drink brunches in Kansas City, and it seems like our prayers have been answered in Louie's Wine Dive. After learning that they serve AYCD mimosas and are just across the street from a MAX stop, we all loaded up into a bus, with plans for getting loaded. What we didn't necessarily expect was for the food to be so dang good as well! For our group of eight, we had a variety of different food options, and everybody was quite happy. I opted for the Rise and Shine burger, with a patty (made by Alex Pope of Local Pig fame) dusted in coffee grounds and then served with bacon and a fried egg. It was good, not so great that it'll be my go-to choice on return visits. I need to try that omelet stuffed with mac and cheese, as well as the french toast with apple mascarpone cheese. Ooh, and the short ribs. Bottom line, there are a lot of dang tasty food options, and they're all under $12, to boot! But back to the mimosas. For only $11 you can drink all you can drink. Not a bad deal, indeed! When the place gets busy you might actually see the bottom of your glass once in a while, but they are heavy pours, both in size and alcohol volume. I approve. I'm not completely wowed by the interior, but the place IS called "wine dive," and it exceeds the connotation of that title. Nobody is going to mistake it for a fancy restaurant, but it's comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and well decorated, which I like. Nothing like a gross bathroom to ruin an experience. The music that was playing seemed odd to me. Full of hair bands and yacht rock, it wouldn't be out of place at a frat bar, but for some reason it worked here. There must be something magic in the air at Louie's Wine Dive, because it didn't make me angry, which normally hearing Journey before noon would do. I can't vouch for this place for dinner or late night, but in terms of brunch I am most definitely a fan!

Now that yelp considers me a regular here I need to express my review, especially after having AMAZING service last night! First of all, the mussels are to die for. My husband loves the fries that come with them too! I also wanted to try the shrimp bisque. Also amazing. When we finished the mussels, the sauce was so good, the bar manager came over and asked if he could toast some bread up for us to dip in the sauce. Husband was in heaven! What awesome service!! By this time I was already filling up so I ordered a side salad of Emily's Apple Harvest. Delicious! Candied walnuts, dried cranberries, feta, and apples in a vinaigrette dressing. I couldn't finish it because I was full, but hubs loved it so he ate some too! He got the peppercorn burger. It had an egg on it. I tried a bite, but the peppercorn was too much for me. He, on the other hand, loves it! We also had a slice of cheesecake for dessert. Needless to say I over indulged a little, but everything sounded SO good! And it was :) we will definitely continue to be regulars here! Oh and props to the bar manager and our waitress, Megan! They were amazing. What a great time!

Whether I go there for brunch or dinner, I'm never disappointed. I can't ever venture away from the Harvest Eggs Benedict at brunch time - they switch up the roasted vegetables every time I'm there with whatever is seasonal - and it is delicious. You also can't go wrong with the bottomless mimosas - it's the perfect spot for a nice summer brunch (they have patio seating too). Dinner is just the same - so delicious and lots of different options to accommodate a group of different tastes.

Wow. A new place in Waldo where we can have a drink AND eat a meal. This is great. And even better is that the menu uses fresh, eco-friendly and local ingredients. So I not only can meet people for meals. But I can actually feel safe eating there, too. My criteria for meals is so ridiculous that there truly are very few places I consider "safe". If you are a wine person, please check out the menu. The people who work there are more than willing to assist with selection, and are packed with knowledge and suggestions. Everyone at our table during our last visit was thrilled with their wine selections. And whatever my friends were drinking the previous visit at the bar apparently was enough of a hit to send them back a few days later. I know I tried a Malbec, and a sip of some bubbly. All wines appear to be available by the glass, and they will open any bottle if you commit to ordering two glasses. (I noticed three wines on tap, and a whole page full of others by the bottle) For an appetizer, I tried the Fritto Misto and the Deviled Eggs. Fritto Misto includes fresh cut seasonal vegetables fried in rice flour and served with habanero aioli and roasted tomato sauce. RICE FLOUR , which means gluten free. Granted if you suffer from Celiac Disease, and are affected on a molecular level, this still may not be safe. But if you are trying to avoid wheat, or gluten, this is a nice option for a "fried" dish. AND you are getting your veggies, too. One of my dining companions got the Mussels. (One pound of Prince Edward mussels steamed in lemon broth with La Quercia prosciutto, fresh herbs and crispy fries). WOW. It was huge. And she finished it because it was apparently that good. I am allergic to shellfish, so I cannot speak for the mussels. I will have to continue to try Louie's during different times of the week, as well as giving it a chance to evolve. It has a nice feel to it. To me, it feels classy AND casual at the same time, which I like. So far, I like what I have experienced. It is a nice addition to the neighborhood.

All You Can Drink Mimosas. 4 different types. From 9-2 pm. 11$. Though All You Can Drink mimosas is a marketing ploy and not an actual challenge, we girls happily accepted. On a beautiful October morning, we congregated, sat outside, and began our AYCD challenge, errr... brunch. Our server was very sweet, and let us know they were a little busy so the mimosas might take a minute or two. This was fine, as we ordered another round as soon as she returned with our first round. We continued to do that throughout the morning/afternoon, and we were never without a tasty beverage. You can have your mimosa 4 ways, original, cranberry (which they call hibiscus, but we called Cranpagne), grape juice or grapefruit juice. We tried them all, twice or maybe three times, just to make sure they were all sufficient. We also ordered food, I had the pork hash with poached eggs which was very good, and my friends both had the crab cake benedict. The crab cakes were more crab than bread, and that's always a good thing. The breakfast potatoes served on the side were delicious. I have only been here for brunch but would highly recommend this place for some good mimosas and girl talk. Also, on another visit, I had the Bangkok bloody Mary, which I have to say is one of THE best bloodies in KC. For real. Grab your girls and go there. Just drive home safely.

Took a friend out for her birthday dinner here last week and we both left happy and full! I had only ever been to Louie's Wine Dive before for Brunch, which was a bit of a disappointment, but I figured I needed to try out a meal with wine. We shared a bottle of a Malbec blend, which was delicious, and we started off with the margherita flatbread. The flatbread was more of a cracker crust and the toppings were light and flavorful, and it was just what we wanted. We then both ordered the Emily's Harvest salad, I know we don't sound exciting, but we wanted our vegetables! The salad was yummy. It could've used a bit more dressing, but we both finished our plates. We abstained from dessert as we were too full, but I'm sure they have some sweet treats worth ordering. Will definitely be back.

Update: They no longer have the coffee menu that they had a year ago. We stopped in today because Classic Cookie was packed and we were hungry. I asked our server if they had a coffee menu and he looked at me like I was an idiot. I said, "Oh I thought you had different types of coffee like one with amaretto," and his response, "No. We have coffee and coffee." Okay, no need to be a dbag. Breakfast was still okay, nothing amazing. Oh, I did order the croque madam which had hollandaise sauce..no skin, but still watery. Booooo.

If I could give Louie's a negative star I would! We were so disappointed today! Let me begin with no where at the restaurant or at the hostess table did anyone ever say they had special Easter hours! When we arrived at 1:40 PM the hostess sat us...The waitress came over and said "if you would like to do the bottomless mimosas please do so now because we are going to stop taking orders at 2 PM". We ordered the bottomless mimosas and said we would be ready to order within minutes. She then left and a manager came to our table and said "I was told you ordered the bottomless mimosas but we are closing in 15 minutes so we cannot honor those would you like one mimosa?". Really??? This may have been one of the worst customer service experiences ever! I've never been to an establishment that purposely discouraged customers from ordering! They should be embarrassed! We advised that we would leave as not to "bother" them further! We then went next door to The District which was a blessing in disguise as they were more than accommodating with WONDERFUL food and infused drinks--I suggest it 100% over Louie's!

Hmm. Where to start. I was going back and forth between 2 and 3 stars and decided on 2 when I discovered they were/are a mini-chain - so I expect better. The server was cool - as you'd expect in a place like this. The calamari - which not sure how this can get screwed up - was awful. The other appetizer was uninspiring as I don't recall what it was. The entrees were good. I would give the steak a 4 star. Everything else was about a 2-3 star. The big bonus was prices were reasonable. The atmosphere is eclectic. We sat in the basement next to the band - but one downside is there wasn't a bathroom down there.. weird. So I recommend trying it - weird for a 2 star review - but please order the right things (don't waste your time with the calamari!!), and try the steak.

Excellent atmosphere with a great service staff. We were fortunate to take advantage of the nice weather and enjoyed dinner in the outdoor seating. The deviled egg appetizer was great but nothing compared to the shrimp and grits dinner. Food for the soul. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and well complimented by the cheesy grits. I can't explain why but it just works. The bread pudding was excellent as well. On another visit I found the pork gnocchi to be stunning. There is a wonderful assortment of wines as the name suggests and yet I recommend trying any one if their special wine cocktails! Definitely a perfect destination for any food lover. Great for catching up with old friends.

Unique brunch options like chorizo and poached egg pizza, plus you can't beat bottomless mimosas!

The food is good. The steak bruschetta is really good as was the corned beef reuben. The lobster & shrimp mac was okay. Nothing special. Got there toward the end of brunch time and had to wait about 30 minutes before we got our appetizer. They were not extremely crowded. They would benefit from sound sound absorbing material as it was really noisy. The table of 3 across the restaurant was loud and obnoxious and we were forced to hear every annoying word and laugh - at the expense of our own tables conversation. Good, but not great.

Decent wine list... Slightly pricy for the selection offered. Great atmosphere and live music in the basement is an added plus.

Louie's is wonderful. Great service, delicious food, wonderful mimosas. Got shrimp and grits the first time I went and absolutely fell in love. Bottomless mimosas on Sunday is most definitely worth showing up for! Ask for Andy to serve you! :)

I'm naturally inclined to love any place that refers to itself as a Wine Dive, so Louie's had points in their favor going in. I didn't go downstairs, but the main dining area was small, yet still didn't make you feel like you were sitting on top of your neighbor. It was fairly uncrowded when I went (a Sunday afternoon), so it might feel more cramped if it's crowded. Speaking of the time of my visit, I made reservations because I had heard that there could be a wait. There was nothing available between 5:45 and 8:30 on this Sunday, so I chose 5:45. And... there was hardly anyone there the entire time we were dining. Perhaps they limit the number of reservations they take so they can accommodate walk-ins, but it was a bit odd. I found the wine selection to be wonderful, and I love their policy of opening bottles and then posting them on the board. It's a nice surprise, and may be a way to try some wines that are normally only served by the bottle. My friend and I started with some of the seasonal drinks from the bar, and they were both great. My only complaint about the experience at Louie's as a whole was that any drinks we ordered (these, and the wine we had with our meal) took a very long time to get. Otherwise, the service was prompt and helpful. My friend had the salmon salad, and I tried the four pork gnocchi. Which may seem like a strange choice for the middle of summer, but four pork! It was super, and my friend enjoyed her salad a great deal. The menu is expansive and has a great selection for all kinds of diners. I'm really looking forward to heading back and exploring it more.

Awesome omelet. Will definitely need to try out for lunch/dinner. Rick was great server. Atmosphere was nice!

I really enjoyed this place, the company helped, but it's a nice restaurant/bar. We asked for advice on wine by the glass, and the one I had by referral was delicious. We also had the mussels, which came in a thyme-y cream-enhanced broth, with french fries to soak up the goodness. Mop-your-plate good, I had to order bread when we finished the fries. It was packed on a Friday night but not too loud to talk, and the service was excellent.

Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Friendly staff, excellent service and bottomless Mimosas make it my go to breakfast spot. It's crowded, and you'll probably have to wait, but in this case, that's a good thing.

I loved this place! Went on a Sunday night on a holiday weekend, so it wasn't busy at all. Started off with the deviled eggs and they were delicious and not at all mayonnaisey. We both enjoyed them. Then on to the lobster poutine. This recipe is nothing short of genius. Seafood gravy and healthy-sized chunks of lobster over nice crispy fries. I don't remember what my dining partner got as an entree, but I settled on the corned pork Reuben. This was fantastic as well, house-made corned pork, red cabbage sauerkraut, and 100% yum. Service was nice, pretty friendly and attentive. We went on a slow night, so parking wasn't a problem, but I can imagine it could be tight when it's busy though. Don't let that stop you. This is a really good restaurant with a unique menu of items, most of which you won't find anywhere else.

My husband is lactose intolerant and I am gluten intolerant. That being said, the server was very helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. There were so many gluten-free options on the menu, and many items can be altered to make it gluten-free. The kitchen was also happy to leave dairy out of dishes to suit my husband's needs. The server was very knowledgable about the various wines and helped us made selections that would pair well with our food. We started with the Lobster Poutine, and it was amazing - lobster chunks, mushrooms, greens in a delicious gravy on top of fries. So good! He had the fish and chips (champagne and rice flour batter), and he was very pleased. I had the Shrimp Diablo and substituted gluten-free noodles. The sauce was delicious, spicy but not overly so, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I wish there were more shrimp, and less noodles! For dessert I had the housemade cinnamon ice cream - it was so good, to die for! We left full and happy, and will definitely come back!

I am a member of a team I just created called, Team Brunch, and this place has become one of the All-Stars! The food, atmosphere, and service has always been awesome. And bottomless mimosas in FOUR different flavors?! Bye afternoon! They are doing things right over there! Rick has been my server many of times and not only is he fabulous, but has made the Louie's experience for me.

Went here for brunch, being enticed of course by the bottomless mimosas! Their brunch is good, not crazy delicious, but not bad either. Their menu is modest in size. Croque Madame was heavy and delicious. But who are we kidding, I cam here for the liquid breakfast! I love their $11 bottomless mimosas, and you can mix and match all the flavors which is awesome. Surprisingly, the place was mostly empty when we arrived at 10 on a Sunday, but it did pick up steam by noon. The service was good even though they got super busy. Our staff person was not super bubbly, but she was chill, attentive, and even gave us extra goodies. Have to agree with others that the soundtrack is a bit off, but I liked the other atmosphere elements of the place. Definitely a relaxed atmosphere to get your wine or mimosa on!

If you are, ever wanted to be, or am a former fraternity brother and sorority sister, Louie's Wine Dive is the place to be. I am not, nor wanted to be and was never either of these things so it is easy for me to say I was not surrounded by my type of crowd. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not my thing. The place looks pretty good. It's the current, rustic vibe type of place with exposed edison bulbs throughout. It's not the best version of this look I've seen, but it is definitely the best this specific space has looked since I have come to it through many different ventures. The acoustics are piss poor so it lends itself to a more festive setting rather than an intimate one. The service was meh to a-ok. The food tasted great but was very difficult to eat. Case in point......I had the chicken fried steak. The breading and gravy tasted amazing, it could easily rival Stroud's on a good day, but the meat itself was the toughest piece of meat I've ever had. I wasn't the only one that had this situation. I've never heard of anyone using beef short rib for cfs until I came here. It was even from Local Pig. All awesome things, but when you can't cut it or chew it, nothing fancy matters from that point on. The waitress didn't come around to ask how things were, so we accepted what we were given and left with a mixed bag of emotions. The next visit could easily push my rating one direction or the other, it's just a matter of getting excited enough to visit them again.

My gal pals and I met on a Sunday at Louie's Wine Dive after hearing reviews about the bottomless mimosas. For us, that was enough of a draw to get us in. It was about 11:30am, and the place was packed, but we were quickly seated at a table for 3. It was pretty close to the table next to us, but it wasn't claustrophobic. The place has a nice busy and cozy vibe at the same time. The menu was pretty good: everything from Lobster mac and cheese omelets to crab cake benedict to basic eggs, toast and bacon. I ordered the crab cakes bennies, and was very happy. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise sauce not too salt and the crab cakes actually had crab in them. My friend got biscuits and gravy. The gravy had a slight spiciness to it, which I didn't like. I am just not a spicy food person, but it's good to know that their gravy has a bit of a twist to it. The lobster mac and cheese omelet seemed to be one of their biggest sellers and my other friend loved it. The best part about this place is that you don't have to get breakfast potatoes as a side with your breakfast. I had a lovely mixed green salad and ended up not feeling too full for once. And as far as the mimosas, you can get them with things other than OJ. I got mine with grapefruit juice, plus they have hibiscus, and grape juice mimosas. In terms of the service, I don't know whether our guy was new or whether it's like this all the time. It was a good 20 minutes before he took our order. We really didn't care because hey, it was a leisurely ladies' brunch. We ordered our mimosas and coffee at the same time, but our server forgot our coffee. We didn't even realize it until about 15 minutes later. It also took a bit to get our food. Again, we didn't even care because we were relaxing. I would DEFINITELY go back. In fact our group of friends is trying to organize a day again. Loved this meal!!!!

This is a pretty sweet spot!! We went here for brunch and to enjoy the endless mimosas. We had a group of eight, and it was really a nice time. We have been missing our all you can drink brunches, since many of them around the downtown area have shut down. However, Louie's may be the new spot we're needing. Food was pretty good. My girlfriend's dish was cold, but we chalked it up to us being a group of eight, and she decided not to send it back. My meal was very decent for the price; macaroni and cheese stuffed omelet. How can you argue with that?! My meal was very hot, as opposed to Jenn's. The mimosa's are why we really went. $11 for all you can handle. My only complaint is that I wish I had had a little bit more attention from our server. By the time we left, we'd been there for awhile, but during our visit there were many times when 4 or 5 of our glasses would be completely empty; if you have an all-you-can-drink, understand that only one type of person comes to those, and that is someone who wants to drink some mimosas!! Don't be surprised by that. Also, there are 8 of us, at $11 a pop. That's almost $90 in mimosas, so I don't think we should be Other than that, this place is great!! I'm definitely willing to head back there again and see if maybe out server was just having an off day.

I really hope Louie's can stick in this spot. It has never disappointed me. I patronized the establishment 6 times in the first 3 months it was open. And several times since. Two of the first visits resulted in a subsequent visit the following day (Thursday lunch then a Friday lunch; a Friday dinner followed by a Saturday lunch, I think?) Three times for lunch, twice for dinner and once just to dive into the wine. Based on my love of eggs and breakfast fare, it was odd it took me so long to delve into the brunch side of things. I would call it a solid brunch, but it did not hit the very top echelon of my exclusive list...maybe because we were there on St. Patties and I just couldn't get behind the green OJ in my mimosa? But I digress... Bottom line: the menu is up my alley, keeps me coming back to try new things (no two items twice) and it has all been gratifying. Did I mention I like their wine menu? (Haven't tried the wines on tap...I heard they had some "kinks to work out" at the beginning and haven't been brave enough since.)

Last weekend I was lucky enough to experience Louie's Wine Dive not only for the first time but also twice in one weekend. On the way home late Saturday night from a holiday party we stopped and got yo go food and then I ended up there for Sunday brunch as well. All of the carry out food we got was great. We ran into friends there who were having drinks and everyone was having a great time and had enjoyed their dinners. I went back in the morning with a friend for brunch. Our service for brunch was a bit lacking. We ordered the french toast for our brunch appetizer and asked for extra syrup since we were sharing. Our server told us that we 'probably wouldnt need extra because it was real maple syrup and $40 a gallon'. Hmmmmm, well the thing is that we did need extra, so we asked again. I totally understand a kitchen that wants to keep costs down but just charge $.99 and call it a day. Dont try to lecture a couple of gals about how much syrup costs... the eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon were all fantastic. The french toast was really yummy too.

Went to Louie's for Brunch 1/12 with some friends from out of town, on request from an KC local.. We made a reservation so we were sat immediately. Score! Our waiter was Anders and he was very attentive. He read our table and personalities to a tee and joked around and had fun with our table throughout our meal. It's always great to have a personable waiter. We ordered the bottomless mimosa's, one of each flavor..Who can beat $11 bottomless mimosa's! Anders was up there at our table refilling before they got too low.. Which I can appreciate except the fact I lost count on how many we had! Yikes! The male of the group ordered a few bloody marys and two other bourbon based cocktails.. Talk about a rough hangover at 3pm! for all of us! On to the food, I had the crab cake benedict.....and.....a half order of french toast. No i didn't all of it.. Just needed to satisfy all my taste buds.. I appreciate that even though it isn't on the menu they offer half orders. Makes me feel a bit better about my eating habits as well as my wallet. Both were good. Very rich. I think I ate half of each.. Which was perfect for my appetite. The eggs on the benedict were a bit overdone for my taste.. but not enough that I wouldn't eat them. The rest of the crew had the Rise & Shine Burger, Corned Pork Hash and honestly, I have no idea what Mike had.. Oops.. Either was everyone was happy with their meal and ate everything on their plate. Next time (and there WILL be a next time) I am trying the biscuits & gravy!~

I went back for dinner, and I finally tried the 4 Pork Gnocchi, it's comfort food at it's best. Super filling and rich though, so you have to been in the mood for it - which I was. We also got the calamari, which is larger than I've had at other places, almost like "calamari fingers" my husband loves calamari, so he was a fan. SErvice was great as usual, and the atmosphere was energetic and loud. A great late night spot. I've heard about the bottomless mimosa brunch, too, I can't wait to try it.

First time here. We went for lunch and it was amazing. I had the pork gnocchi which was delicious. Husband had the fish and chips and he raved about it. The deviled eggs app was outstanding and the fruit tart for desert was heaven. Our server was great and very helpful. Can't wait to try them for dinner and brunch.

If Jesus and chuck Norris double teamed my mouth it would taste like this! Seriously don't deny your mouth the pleasure it deserves eat the French toast or the lobster poutine or lobster mac or basically anything they cook in the place of the rise of the good lord himself aka the kitchen

Great little place that I wish we would've tried even sooner. Always wowed by the service. Upstairs is a nice lively and open bar and dining area, downstairs is a little more like an underground jazz bar- both are a great place to hang out. We get a flatbread almost every time because they are so perfectly crispy and cracker thin, but we haven't found a bad thing on the menu yet. Awesome wine deals too.

A If you live in or near Waldo or Brookside, take notice and make yourself a regular at this wonderful new restaurant. We went on opening night and they performed as if they had been open a year, save for not having all their spirits and craft beers in yet. But hell, they had Boulevard Pale Ale and my cup never went empty. And they were busy, so their service gets an A+ in my book. Appetizer menu is stellar: fried oysters, lobster poutine, mussells and frites, deviled eggs and cheese plates! That's probably half of the list. We went with the cheese plate and it was excellent. For dinner, the missus had the 4 Pork Gnocchi which is to die for. I had a Cuban sandie and it was the best I've had in Kansas City (your move El Porton). The rest of the menu ranges anywhere from flatbreds to ribeyes to multiple mac n cheese's to a burger. Something for anyone, really. The best way to describe Louie's Wine Dive is simply elegant with a neighborhood feel, which should work out perfect in this location. It's such an improvement over the last restaurant located there (Cantina Del Rey) and a welcome one at that. In a neighborhood full of bar food and pizza, casually upscale works very very well for Louie's Wine Dive. And they even have wine on tap! Never seen that before!!

Phenom!! Ended up here on a Friday around 8 with a party of 4 and No Reservations. :/ We actually googled "Best (lobster) mac and cheese Kansas City" and Louie's popped up. There was a 20-30 minute wait, but they were accommodating and offered seats at the bar and drinks while we waited. The wine list was intimidating and started around $10 a glass. I went with the most economical option - a carafe (2/3 bottle) of Spanish Cabernet Sauvignon for $15. It did not disappoint! Our server was friendly and helpful, though very busy. Around the table we had the pesto chicken flatbread, the steak deburgo (parmesan encrusted tenderloin medallions with potato pave and seasonal veggies), and TWO shrimp and lobster mac and cheeses. The steak was perfectly cooked and the parmeson crust took the flavor over the top. All were satisfied and impressed with their food, and while the service wasn't top notch, he was definitely trying his best. The wine was great and the place was packed which says it all. With such an expansive menu of both food and wine, Louie's definitely warrants another trip to Waldo. Or 2 o 3. -- As for being the BEST lobster mac and cheese in KC... the husband says it is a close second to M&S Grille on the Plaza. But he ordered that dish during Restaurant Week two years ago, and we have not seen it on the menu since. Alas, maybe this is now #1. (We have yet to try Cafe Trio...!)

Super busy on Saturday night - reservations were a must (thru Open Table), can't imagine trying to get a table without one! Friend had a Spanish wine (yum) and I had the chocolate wine (double yum!) that were on special; there's a great huge selection of wines by the glass and they will open any bottle with a 2 glass purchase. Our party ordered the deviled eggs (zomg I ate three whole eggs, def got my protein intake but they were so good!), short rib and blue cheese bruchetta, mussels with fries, chicken entree, and the chocolate cake for dessert - everything was delicious and with great service and ambience - could not have asked for a better dining experience!! Louie's hasn't been open for very long, but they have already carved a niche in this area with great local support, and I suspect it will become a really popular spot within KC. That was my second visit - and I am already looking forward to coming back, especially for bottomless mimosa brunch and the lobster mac and cheese...and the gnocchi...and the, you get the point!!

It had been three months since our first visit to Louie's, which was plenty time for them to get the "new restaurant kinks" worked out. We invited two other couples to meet us at the Dive for a night out. I must admit, that at first I was a bit concerned - the hostesses were engrossed in a conversation and didn't even acknowledge me. Luckily our guests we were meeting were keeping an eye out for us and waved us to our table. From that point on it was smooth sailing! First of all, don't let the name "Dive" fool you, the decor is certainly above dive standards. Quirky, but not a dive. They have definitely improved the acoustics in the restaurant since our first visit; we noticed foam squares on the ceiling (only because we were looking) that must absorb the sound. It was much more enjoyable from a noise level, for sure. Our service was friendly and attentive and our waitress was helpful navigating the food and wine menus with us. I love that you can have any bottle of wine opened if you purchase two glasses. I enjoyed a great cab franc to start with a friend. Others in our party enjoyed some of the chalkboard wines and we had a few beer drinkers. They were disappointed there were no draught beers, but hey, it is a WINE bar! We started with the a bruschetta and the mussels for the group, both were very good. We had a great variety at dinner - two different Mac & cheese entrees, gnocchi, shrimp & grits, and a flatbread. A few of us also started with the side salads. Everything was plentiful and tasty. It was nice to have choices on the menu that were different from the mainstream. Everyone seemed very satisfied with their meals. We didn't need it, but we indulged in dessert (thanks Cory)! Our waitress suggested the s'mores; she had been spot on all night, so s'mores it was. What a fun and delicious option! You actually get marshmallows on skewers, graham crackers and Hershey bars. It is all served on a plate with a flaming cauldron. Yes, you get to make your own s'mores, what a kick! It was a great/fun way to end a fabulous evening. Not at all what I would have expected in a dessert, but I will definitely order it again if I go with a group. Thanks for taking the flaming cauldron away before we could start our game of "will it burn!" Bottom line - Louie's Wine Dive is here to stay! They have got it figured out and are here to make sure their customers have a great experience. Go in and give them a try, and save room for s'mores; no camping required!

I usually try to give places a couple of chances before writing them off completely, unless things are absolutely heinous. But after 3 visits to Louie's, I have to say sorry, but 3 strikes and you're out. Louie's huge problem is service. They just can't seem to get it right AT ALL, and I'm to the point where even if the food is amazing, if the service sucks, they're not going to get my business. And the service sucks here. After our first visit, we decided to go back to Louie's for a couple of drinks and a snack one evening. I can't remember if it was actually during happy hour, or if it was just happy hour for us, but it was all but empty in there. We sat at the bar, and there were another 2 people sitting down from us, and yet we were studiously ignored by both bartenders until I quite loudly and snarkily asked my husband what on earth we had to do to get a damn menu and some service. One of the people behind the bar apparently then noticed we were there, and provided us with water and menus. After that, service was almost over the top pushy, with one bartender constantly asking us what we wanted, did we want more food, more drinks, etc. Feast or famine! Our last visit (and I mean last in both senses of the word) was on Saturday for lunch. This time the place was about 1/2 full, but it still took ages to be greeted, given water, have our orders taken, etc. Once we did place our order - 2 salads, it took over 1/2 an hour to receive our food. 1/2 an hour for salads. Ridiculous. And all of the staff just sort of shuffled around - no one was in any kind of hurry to provide service of any kind. Even the kitchen staff looked lethargic. It was like being surrounded by the walking undead. The salads, when they arrived, were pretty small and meagerly topped. I left still hungry and irritated that I had paid $13 for a salad that took forever to arrive and didn't even fill me up. I should've listened to my husband and gone to Panera instead. I know lots of people love Louie's, but it just really doesn't do it for me. I'm sad that I won't be having any more of their tasty lobster poutine, but the service is just too awful to make me go back again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice - or three times - shame on me.

Love the ambiance of Louie's but sadly disappointed with the food. I was told they have a new chef/new menu. We were there for dinner and I had the barramundi which lacked flavor . It was a nice piece of fish but no taste. The shrimp and grits were ordered by a friend and they were not flavorful either . Another in our party enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese although the portion size was small. Disappointed with the menu itself and the entrees . I'll probably go back for the brunch but hope the chef realizes he/she is lacking.

One of the best brunches we've been to in KC! The 4 different mimosas are all great and they pour them very heavy on the champagne. It was packed and I could see why it's so popular. We split the eggs Benedict and the portions was great sized for two people and was delicious. Service was great and we chatted with other people up at the bar. We will definitely return.

It's been like one million months since I posted a review, but I'm coming out of hiding for Louie's. It's delicious. It's super friendly to anyone with dietary restrictions. My husband (oh - PS I got married during my hiatus) and I went for dinner on Saturday with our favorite couple friends. One of whom eats dairy-free and gluten-free. And zee hubs and I are both pescatarians. Louie's has a TON on the menu that satisfies all of our high-maintenance requests. I've been for happy hour and brunch as well and nothing has disappointed. First, can we please discuss the lobster poutine. YES, I SAID LOBSTER POUTINE. Just some delicious french fries covered in lobster, cheese curds and seafood gravy. Try this. The end. Deviled eggs. Yes and yes. The mussels and frites (are you noticing a theme here? can you say french fry addiction?) were also a delight and I enjoyed them along with a pretty tasty caesar salad for dinner. And for breakfast I think I had some sort of fantastic veggie benedict but I may have been distracted by the bottomless mimosas. Also one of my favorite things about Louie's is they will open any bottle of wine on the menu as long as you commit to drinking two glasses. Which, duh, I'm going to do anyway. Service has always been fantastic. The atmosphere is great. It's a good location. I wish we hadn't left Waldo for the 'burbs because this place would have been a short walk from our old house. C'est la vie. Go to Louie's. Now.

My review is based on brunch, and it was a fabulous experience! Five of us girls ended a bachelorette weekend by dining here on a Sunday morning. We were promptly seated and our server came over with water right away. We opted for the bottomless mimosas. $11 well spent! One of the girls decided she wanted a bloody mary, which was amazingly delicious. Our drinks came out fairly quickly. I thought the brunch food options were really good, and I actually had trouble deciding what I wanted. Luckily, one of my friends had difficulty choosing as well so we decided to share two different things. We went with the croque madame and the biscuits and gravy. The croque madame was good, but not that big. The biscuits and gravy were awesome! The chorizo made the gravy. I would have licked the plate clean if I wasn't in public. Another girl enjoyed her french toast and the two other girls both got the Harvest Benedict, which they both loved! The veggies were definitely fresh. Our server was friendly and attentive, but the problem was that there is only one pitcher of mimosas for all the servers to share. So if our glasses went empty, we had to wait for our server to get his hands on the pitcher. It was kind of ridiculous for an all you can drink brunch. One pitcher...seriously?! Louie's Wine Dive is a cute spot and a great addition to Waldo. It's unpretentious and offers up good food at reasonable prices.

Was so unhappy. Had a reservation but they're system wasn't connected when we got there so we still had to wait. Mimosas were beyond weak. They were just juice I think. My eggs Benedict were cold, the yolks cooked. My companions food was also cold. The music was badly selected and INCREDIBLY LOUD. And it was packed. So I really expected better. Terrible shame.

The farthest thing from a dive in Waldo. This is my Brunch review. I'm a sucker for mimosas and these guys are pouring bottomless ones for $11 at brunch! We had a party of 11 on a Saturday morning (about 11:30) and we were accommodated by pulling some high-top tables together in the middle of the restaurant. It was the perfect location for watching the Saturday afternoon traffic and we sipped (or guzzled) our mimosas until 2pm. You better believe we got our $11 worth. Our server, Rick, couldn't have been more perfect for our crazy little party. He was attentive and quick on the refills (a girl shouldn't have to wait for her mimosas), not to mention hilarious. He did an amazing job putting up with us. He could have pulled up a chair and fit right in! As for the food, my boyfriend and I shared the Croque Madame with Breakfast Potatoes and the French Toast a la Louie. DELICIOUS!! Here's the link to the brunch menu for more info: media.wix.com/ugd//d0236… GO THERE. NOW. And take a DD. If you get there at 10am, you can drink 'til 2pm!

This is a great place to go for Brunch. Get there early because there is usually a line. I took my daughters and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. French toast was awesome. Also loved the shrimp and grits.

Met a friend here for drinks. Love their policy on opening a bottle. If there's a bottle you want to try, but don't want to commit to buying the bottle, they'll open it if you'll commit to drinking two glasses. Had their take on an old fashioned as well as a Duvel--both were fantastic. Split the lobster poutine with my friend and it was amazing. Will definitely come back to try their other offerings.

Was getting a bit tired of the BBQ scene during my week in town for work and thought I'd find somewhere with poutine [Canada's improvement on "disco fries"] - didn't end up getting any though! I've had a few too many bad experiences on the road with respect to drinking entire bottles of wine by myself, so I tried ordering a bottle for myself and sliding a full glass of Malbec [sounds like Melmac - little ALF joke for you guys] towards some cute girls down the bar. Turns out the bar has too many dimples and the glass fell, broke, and spilled mostly into one of their handbags. I offered to replace it by giving them $20 but was asked to leave a few bites into my Shrimp and Grits. Good wine, may have been a bit "overserved", but my first bites were very promising!

This was my first encounter with Louie's and I was not very impressed. We went for brunch. Their $8 biscuits and gravy were not by any means good. I received mine cold and extremely hard, and the gravy they use is pretty bland. Service was mediocre, she seemed like she was unhappy to be there, I might try coming back for dinner, but never brunch again.

Great food and atmosphere. Highly recommended! I live out West so I always stop by new restaurants and bars to check them out. Without doubt Louie's tops my list. I had Havana. Combined with the fries, definitely filled to the brim. Really delicious!

This is for brunch only, I'm sure I'll have a completely different review for dinner. Came in here after hearing about bottomless mimosas and had to give it a shot. For $11, it's a pretty good deal. We got sat, then waited around 10 minutes before a server came up and gave us water and said our other server was "slow." No biggie, at least he gave us a heads up. The other server came over after about 10 more minutes and took our order. Mimosas arrived about five minutes later. So, from the time you walk in till the time you got your drink it was about 25 minutes. It'd understand if it was busy, but there were several open tables and only two people sitting at the bar. I had the biscuits and gravy, they were average at best. Good hearty flavor, but the biscuits tastes stale. Also tried the pork hash which was much better than the biscuits and probably pretty good compared to other places in the city that serve hash. I really enjoyed the decor and how it's laid out. I'll be back for sure based on the wine list, the space and the friendliness of the other servers.

My review is honestly about the venue and brunch, as that is the only context I know for Louie's. I would certainly return for the name sake activi-tie just based on their space and the knowledge that what they set out do is done quite well. Waldo, you have another stop and destination for this River Market kid. First of all, I love that it is literally just across the street from a Max stop. Since they feature a bottomless mimosa for only $11, public transit is a must for my brunch bunch. Of course if you can allow your bottomless beverage to involve three glasses spaced out over a couple of hours you would be ok, especially considering how darn delish all of their food is. I personally had a the brunch burger. Coffee covered beef cooked to order (medium rare for me) with a fried egg and thick bacon. To make it extra brunchy and quite special, the sauce is a maple aioli! So yums. The croque madame looked amazing and I heard rave reviews from my fellow brunchers about the hash and the short ribs. I am very excited to get back and try many more menu items. The space is quite cool too. Lots of windows keep the light natural and pleasant, perfect for the late morning meal. The decor has that antique/modern industrial feel that has become so popular in the last couple of years. Exposed old school light bulbs, a wall o' chalkboard that is painstakingly drawn to host the wine menu as if it were just thrown up there, but it seemed to be a bit to perfectly thrown up, and an antique arrow sign announcing where the basement lounge could be accessed. Overall, a great, comfortable feeling space that let you feel a little chic and modern while also comfy and casual. The staff was good too. We were sat immediately upon arrival, even though only four of our eight had arrived (get us started on finding those bottoms), our waiter was knowledgeable and quick, and we never went without...well we did all find the bottoms once or twice, but with eight people pulling, I'm sure they could only open Champagne bottles so fast. Overall, we had a great experience, delicious food, and great times. I will be going back and would certainly recommend Louie's to anyone who inquired. Oh yeah, BTW's, the most expensive menu item: $12!!! Now try and stay away!

I made a reservation for dinner. Service- The server was super enthusiastic and when I say "super," it was a little much for me. She would have rocked a table of young guys ready to tear it up, but I just wanted a relaxed date night. That said, the service was good, just too theatrical for me. I think she picked up on the fact that we didn't want to include her in all of our conversations, so she dissapeared for the second half of our stay. This was a shame, because i would have ordered at least 2 more glasses of wine. Food- The food was pretty good. I had a field green salad to start and a diablo shrimp pasta dish for the entree. Both were very flavorful and fresh. Wine- excellent choices and even local labels. I love the fact that any open bottle is for sale by the glass. Chalkboard keeps it all ord=ganized and up to date. Ambience- Here's the part that I am not loving. You walk in and bam-you are in the restaurant. That sucks as an entrance and for the people sitting at those tables by the door in the winter. The layout and flow is really off putting. There are high tops at the front of the dining room and 4-5 low tops at the back. If you are at the back eating, you feel like you are sitting in a hole, unless of course you are positioned on this weird raised platform against the wall. Also, I know all the designers are jumping on the "exposed bulb" trend, but that lighting SUCKS. The exposed bulb (usually the Edison bulb) is a glaring mess. It creates unflattering light and I feel like there are 50 cars coming at my face. There needs to be some low lighting, or at the very least, throw more candles on the tables. I will be back, but probably sit at the bar or wait until summer and hope for outdoor tables.

I've been to Louie's about 4 times now. For dinner twice and drinks and apps the other two. The service is always fabulous and the staff seems knowledgable. Everything we've tried on the menu is great. The salmon salad is probably my favorite entree I've tried so far. The only drawback is the size of the bar, in my opinion. Yes, I know if you want to grab dinner there you need a reservation. But with only 12-14 seats at the bar (and a 90 minute wait) there's no where to sit and just grab a glass of wine. I don't have a proposed solution, but I'm fairly certain a server would be pissed if I made a reservation for drinks but what are your other options to just go enjoy the atmosphere and a nice bottle?

I went for HH so I only experience the flatbread and it was amazing...it's flatbread, but it was actually REALLY good. Great service at the bar and then headed to a table. The waitress was funny and very helpful since we were really not on the ball. Everyone ordered at my table and loved their food. The portions are not too large and the setting was perfect. I can see if getting VERY loud and VERY crowded on a weekend so I don't know that would be my first choice, but maybe weekeday. The outside seating area is right on the busy street so wouldn't be ideal. Overall solid.

So I've been wanting to check out Louie's Wine Dive for a while now. Everyone I have talked to LOVES this place. So I was pretty psyched when I found out we were going to a birthday brunch here. The venue itself is super cute. Lots of windows and exposed brick. A combination of old school and modern which we have seen become more and more popular. Walking in last Sunday, we were sat immediately. The server was very attentive and was great on keeping our mimosas filled (a difficult task with our table of 8 people who drink like fish). FYI bottomless mimosas are only 11 dollars. Not bad when most places serve them for 6 dollars a piece! I have two little qualms with Louie's.My dish, the Harvest Benedict, was cold and had absolutely no flavor. That being said, everyone else loved what they ordered, so I think it was just the Harvest that was the issue. So if you go for brunch, be safe and stay away from that dish. Also, the server became a bit impatient with us and made it known he was ready for us to leave. We weren't loud or obnoxious, so maybe he was worried we'd drink them out of mimosas. I'd definitely give this place another shot. Maybe I'm just really picky. Or a food snob. Who knows. As I said, everyone else I went with really liked this place. Hopefully the food will be better the second time around!

LOVED this little place. The food was fantastic and full of flavor. The wine selection was outstanding, and the wait staff was ok. (lunch experience was excellent, dinner wait staff was less than stellar) The fact that it's a bit of a "dive" is part of its charm!

Midwest chic! This place seems comfortable in its own skin. Who could ask for more than good food, good wine, good cocktails in a comfortable atmosphere served by great staff.

Oddly, going to Louie's, I often decide to get beer. Last visit was no exception. July 5, nobody was in the place (everyone at the lake for a holiday weekend, I guess) and so my four friends and I got extra-attentive service. Louie's has a dynamite location and great atmosphere. Their outdoor tables are wonderful late at night, as well. The food was sensational. I had shrimp and grits that were awfully good. THREE of my friends had their shrimp and lobster macaroni and cheese and...well, duh, wouldn't you? It was amazing. Gooey and filling and tasted wonderful. Our server was great, as well. Maybe because she only had a couple of tables, but she was attentive and personable and accurate. Given that those are the only things I really want from a server, she gets 10/10. If you're in Waldo/Brookside and craving wine and good food (or good beer), you know where to go.

Ok now. I think the Wine dive has it's kinks worked out. I decided to give them a second try last night and I'm pleased to say that it definitely has improved since my last visit. We had a really knowledgeable server, great wine (for a great price), and the food was good as well. We had the Emily's Apple Harvest side salad (wow!), and the lobster/shrimp mac and cheese (holy cow, that was filling!). Topped off with the most delectable dessert (some type of chocolate cake....very rich but not too rich). I'll be back, and I'm sure this will become a favorite happy hour hangout.

This is a solid addition to the Kansas City restaurant scene. It has really good food, and a great selection of wines. I have to single out their Cuban sandwich as a particularly awesome example. Now, I won't act like I can say it is authentic or not - it's just good. I haven't been to Havana, so, if you want to object to the bread used or whatever, go ahead and do so. But if you're eating dinner or lunch in Kansas City and you want a mouthful of crunchy flavors, order up one of these monsters and enjoy. The Reuben is also really, really good. If it weren't for that darned Cuban, I'd order it again, because it is one of the best I've ever had in Kansas City. The wine list is neat, too, because it changes. If there's a new bottle opened, they put it on the board and you can get a glass that doesn't show up on the "wines by glass" list. I got to taste a great cabernet franc this way, and who knows what I will get next time? The service was good and prompt.

We had dinner here from the Restaurant Week menu. There were 8 of us at our table and our server was prompt and friendly all night long. I really appreciate that he allowed us to split checks. For $30 I had a generous serving of mussels in a lemony broth, maui-mahi grilled and served over quinoa risotto, and a chocolate brownie. I really enjoyed the mussels and the fish, both were expertly prepared and quite tasty. I was a little disappointed in the brownie, it was a cake-like brownie and I prefer mine with a fudge-like consistency. The hong ice cream on top was great, but I let someone else finish my brownie. Our server accidentally brought an order of beignets to the table and when we said they were not ours, allowed us to keep them rather than throw them out. The beignets my friend, are PERFECT. Hot and crispy on the outside, a little gooey on the inside. Yummy little pillows of love I tell you. Thats the dessert you want. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed their food, we'll be back!

Finally got in to try this new place last night after week's of driving by and wondering how it was. Love the new decor - rustic, casual vibe. It's a small place so there's a crowded feel to it and it's a bit on the noisy side, but you get used to it. We tried two of the more popular dishes: Short Rib in red wine sauce w/mashed potatoes and spinach and 4 Pork Gnocchi. The short rib was very tasty but of the two pieces on my plate, one of them was all fat and no meat. The manager stopped by and apologized, and they ended up taking it off the bill which they didn't have to do considering I cleaned everything else off of it! Now the pork gnocchi on the other hand was perfect. I will definitely get that next time. Had some great wine specials - I had a wine flight for only $9 and the glasses were more full than in most flights. They also said they would open up any wine not on the by the glass menu as long as we committed to two glasses. Score! Looking forward to trying brunch after reading all the other reviews!

Their brunch menu is pretty boring but bottomless mimosas (11$) were really why we came here! You were able to switch up the different flavors if you wanted or stick to the original. The food was good, especially the breakfast potatoes which was surprising because they're usually not even good at actual breakfast restaurants. The staff was friendly enough but when I looked around they were usually on their phones or looking sluggish. Our waitress seemed like she wasn't fully awake and at first told us they didn't have just regular coffee without alcohol in it. We gave her awhile and then asked her again and she brought out some. It's a nice location on a corner in Waldo, with cute front outdoor seating. Inside, it's small but nice and you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the couple next to you. I'll probably come back for the mimosas!

This look like a fun place to have brunch on a Sunday afternoon, right about waking up from a hangover over from last night shenanigans... A must order bottomless Mimosa is the business, drink all you can and somehow it helps your hangover cos' 4 glass later your back into a little tipsy mode... Lets talk about the food, the only thing I could say is; Why is the biscuit is so hard? for the biscuit and gravy that I always crave for. and when some of us wanted to order Steak and Egg as brunch special please make sure you have plenty of it cos' it sucks when the server mention the brunch special and get us all excited and come back and say we are out of Steak and Egg... That is such a kill joy move there Louie :( Would appreciate if you make the portion a little bigger, because we hungry!

We stopped by Louie's after a movie for a glass of wine and a bite to eat. Really loved it. Our server, Kristene, was as engaging and helpful as they come. The wine she recommended was superb and the food was a perfect complement. Perfect atmosphere for a comfortable conversation with friends over a glass (or several) of wine. We will definitely go back.

We are new to the Kansas City area, and have been looking for some fun restaurants to dine in. This is one that we will be going back to many times. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. They have a wonderful wine selection, which made us happy being that we lived near Napa before. The food is fresh and the menu had something for everyone. The prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. They had live music the night we went and we really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this place!!

Let me start by admitting I have to say, I'm a bit of brunch snob.. We went to Louie's for brunch for the first time yesterday. Food? Amazing. Server? Phenomenal (If not for those delicious, bottomless, mimosas, I might have recalled her name!) Atmosphere? Comfortable. Management - they should lose a star, but the food was so good, and the server so incredible, I won't drop a star for lackadaisical management. Just don't ask me how everything is and walk away before I answer. That makes you a tool, not a manager. I've been searching for a place that can CONSISTENTLY do a poached egg correctly. I know, I too think it's a simple thing to ask - but it is not. Everyone at our table had perfect eggs. Perfect. I was happily stunned! Star one. I ordered a small side of hollandaise and, I while wouldn't bet it was homemade (I'm not a gambler), it was delicious!! I usually have to drive to Dixie Quicks for perfect hollandaise, but it looks like I have found an acceptable understudy right in my backyard! Star two. Biscuits & Gravy. I cannot be the only person who is sick of the classic, soggy "biscuit" drowning in a white, pasty, flour filled, gravy with a bit of sausage stirred in as an after thought. These are brilliant, kiss your grandma, biscuits! Topped with an unexpected chorizo gravy with just a hint of nutmeg. Trust me...this is a dish that will leave you miserably full! You cannot stop eating it! You keep "tasting" and tasting to try to figure out the ingredients, and before you know it, you want to unbutton you pants! Star three. Server. Blonde, friendly, and everything you can ask for in a server! She knew the specials inside and out, told us which ones she didn't want to share at their tasting (I am incredibly impressed when a restaurant is doing a tasting for their brunch - GREAT sign!), spot on with the refills of the mimosas, and I'm not kidding, just the happiest, sweetest woman anyone could ask for! Louie's got lucky when she walked in the door! Star four. The fifth star is for leaving me wanting more. Rarely (if ever) does a brunch make me say, I can't wait to come back for dinner! Louie's did. My friends and I have already discussed dates that work for us and am certain we will be back within a month for some of those incredible dinner dishes! Bravo! I love being impressed...and Louie's not only impressed me, they made me happy. Thank you.

Met clients for a bottle of wine and an appetizer. Networking, you know. I really liked the contrast of the place. Upscale wine list and menu, but 'dive-ish' atmosphere. The wine list was relatively extensive, and the best part about this place is they will open ANY bottle of wine as long as you order two glasses. Now, some bottles, you might as well just buy the whole bottle, because two glasses is almost as much as the bottle!! We had a couple of reds, that you don't normally find in your local liquor store, both of which were very good, and the shrimp bruschetta which was excellent and very nicely portioned. I will be going back.

I've been very impressed with Louie's. I often go for lunch and their Corned Pork Reuben is incredible! (Just keep in mind that it doesn't really taste like a regular Reuben. It's in a class of it's own.) Also, my wife has celiac, but she's always able to find good gluten-free meals. We went once in the evening and it was a fun atmosphere. Many restaurants have come and gone in that location, but I hope Louie's makes it. It fits well with the neighborhood.

Got there a little after 7p on a Tuesday night and although the place wasn't packed for some reason it was extremely loud. Like yell into the ear of the person sitting next to you type loud. Service was very slow but when I finally had a chance to order, I got a Brazilian drink that tasted very generic and ultimately unmemorable. I wasn't particularly hungry so I go the Gooey Cake think that it would be as delicious as what Waldo Pizza serves. NOT.EVEN.CLOSE. As a person with a serious sweet tooth, nasty desserts piss me off and I was not pleased. It tasted like a an undercooked dessert bar with a bit of caramel mixed in for added texture issues and general displeasure. Total bill $17. I could have walked to Cirilla's and found more pleasure and relaxation for the same amount of money. The only reason why I'm giving them two stars is because they have lots of parking (after hours), they let my companion and I talk unmolested for hours and I haven't tried their regular menu.

We went to Louie's last night and I can't wait to go back! The wine menu is great but be sure to ask the server what the special wines are. I did not see them on the black board and they had one of my favorites as a special, ordered it as our second bottle so all was well. They will pour any of their wines as long as you have at least two glasses. The menu is amazing, so hard to make a decision with such great options. We started with the devil eggs, if you love deviled eggs I would get them! I had the 4 Pork Gnocchi, the gnocchi was perfectly cooked and they were not skimpy on the portion like some other places. My friends had the Buffalo chicken mac and cheese, the Shrimp Diablo and the Margarhita flatbread. We all sample each others and they were all very good. I must go back soon to try more things! The service was spot on, John was our server and he was always there when we needed someone and our water glasses were never empty. Being in the industry it always makes me happy to find a place with good service. A few notes, be sure to get a reservation, we did, but saw several people come and not want to wait. It is a really loud environment, not really for an intimate meal. Also I would love to see their website updated with the menu. I am one of those people that like to look at it before I go. Also my friend came from Lee's Summit and could not find it on google maps. Great addition to Waldo area, we need a great food and wine place that is closer to home. I would not wait to try out this place because it will become your new favorite spot!!

I am really excited to see that a "wine dive" has opened up in the Romanelli strip. This poor storefront has seen its share of one-hit wonders, but I really do hope that Louie's is here to stay. Here's the quick and dirty - fun atmosphere (casual yet modern), wine on draft (enough said), unbelievable service (server was amazing and even the manager stopped by to check on us) and really great, local food (both FTM and Local Pig items on the menu). I even said out-loud during my dinner, "I've never had a glass of wine and a burger together." Pretty sure that's Louie's slogan! This place is definitely going to find its way into my regular rotation.

I checked out Louie's last week, and expected some rough edges since they have only been open a week or two. I was pleasantly surprised that things were running very smoothly, and they had 1 other location out of state, so they had a model to go by. Food was very good, I had the lobster poutaine, and my buddy had the triple pork gnocchi, which he said was very good. Wine selection was excellent, and reasonably priced. They have a very cool concept in that if you commit to buy 2 glasses of a bottle of wine that is only for sale by the bottle, they will open it for you, and then if you decide not to drink the other two glasses of the bottle it goes up on a chalk board for others to sample. Great idea if you want to order a wine that is not for sale by the glass, or if you want to try a more expense wine. They were very busy on the week night, and I think the concept will do well at the Waldo/ Brook-side boarder.

I have had my eye on Louie's and ended up meeting some friends here for an impromptu drink. I had a mojito that was just...meh. To be fair I don't usually order mojitos and I have no idea what possessed me to order one this time. So I am no mojito expert. We didn't order any food. The apps weren't too tempting and the entrees on the menu looked pricey--and we already had dinner plans. It was very slow because it was Easter so it was nice and chill. The server was very nice and efficient. It was nice to try a new place but it didn't really feel like my scene so doubtful if I will go back.

Two thumbs way up. I've had roughly half the menu so it's time I give the place the credit it deserves. They do it all, and they do it very well. And all the staff is NICE. And their bar has wine on tap - very cool.

We ate here on a Friday for lunch and were impressed. This was our first time here ( going on a recommendation from a neighbor) we had the deviled eggs as an appetizer along with bloody Marys. Eggs were delicious and bloody Marys very good. Spicier one is better! We each had the green goddess dressing hamburger. Absolutely yummy. But the best part of our experience was the service! Server was Rick who was informative, friendly and attentive (without being intrusive) We both decided to take a bottle of their house wine home. Reasonably priced and very good. We will be back soon hopefully for brunch or the live jazz on a Fri-Sat night. Very good overall experience .

I went with a group of ladies for a Friday night out. It was very busy, so we waited at the bar where many of the group ordered their drinks. It took a while to be seated, due to the size of our group- without a reservation. Once seated, food was ordered and delivered quickly. There was a great jazz band playing that evening which was a lovely accompaniment to the delicious food. This place has a really great warm atmosphere. I will be back and with a much smaller group.

I was a bit worried by the name we were going to an actual dive, but I couldn't have been happier! A girlfriend and I stopped in here Saturday afternoon after a full day of housewares shopping. We decided on a bottle of Prosecco, because lunch is always better with bubbles!! :) We asked our server about the bruschetta because it was listed on the lunch menu as "ask your server about today's selections" and he told us "It's a sampler, you get 4." We had to prod him to tell us what KIND they were and he said "Oh, um, steak, tomato and butternut squash." The description he gave us didn't sound that good, so we passed. We happened to turn over the wine menu and the dinner menu was on the back, listing a full description of the bruschettas which sounded AMAZING and totally different from his poor description. We flagged him down and decided to add the bruschetta, which was an excellent choice. We got 1 of each: tomato and mozzarella with balsamic glaze - very good. Roasted portabello, red pepper, goat cheese and balsamic glaze, also very good. Braised short rib with onions and blue cheese - awesome, my favorite. Pulled pork with fontina and butternut squash - my least favorite. I had the salmon salad which was served with a very generous portion of perfectly grilled salmon. The salad was delicious and a great mix of flavors and not too much dressing. Friend got the pork and apple sandwich and she said it was very tasty. It appears they have a champagne bar downstairs. It's a very nice place and we'll definitely be back!

I'll def. go back. It was good not mind blowing but I liked it enough to be a repeat customer. My only complaint is the noise - I don't even think music was playing but my voice was horse from yelling over all the chatter just to hold a conversation. They should consider steps to absorb sound. Other than that this is a great place to grab a glass or bottle - no judgement here - of wine and not feel like you need to dress for a hoity toity crowd.

Lunch I will admit I don't have the most sophisticated palate but I do have a palate. My daughter and I stopped in here for lunch and were disappointed to the core. It was not busy but took forever for a waiter to get to the table. I got some gourmet hamburger from hell. It had pulled pork on top of it and was dry and bland. It was cooked to order but even smelled funky. I think I ate 3 bites of it. My daughter tried a bite and was grossed out. We are Americans don't try to mess with our burgers . My daughter order the chicken Alfredo...it was bland and she thought it was made with canned chicken. It tasted like milk. When u serve crappy bland food at least have salt and pepper on the table. You have to ask the waiter for shakers. We sat in a really funky booth that wasn't comfortable and should have left before we ordered. I am still mad I spent 30 bucks on crappy food. If I ever go there again I will have to get drunk to enjoy the place. The only thing they got right is putting dive in the name of the joint. T

I've been here twice now, once with my boyfriend and once with some girlfriends. The service both times was excellent, and the food is both unique and delicious. Gourmet comfort food is the perfect description. The wine list is amazing, and if a wine isn't offered by the glass, they'll open a bottle if you commit to two glasses. We will be eating here often. What a wonderful addition to the Waldo community! The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was the noise level. They should look into adding acoustic panels or fabric to decrease the noise.

Monthly GNO (girls night out) last evening. Enjoyed great wines and yummy appetizers. Two things, I could say are that it is extremely loud therefore very hard to carry-on conversations as it seems everyone is talking very loud so as to be heard over the next person and cheese plate is very limited and probably really serves only one - two persons. Not what we expected.

I have been to Louie's for dinner a total of four times, in mixed company and have had mixed experiences. I will keep trying, but I am still waiting for everything to come together at the same time here. I am cheering from them, as I live just a few blocks away. My first visit to Louie's was all around absolutely lovely, followed by every other visit having one thing or another being just a bit off. It seems they are making adjustments, which is wonderful to see, but I just can't seem to have an experience here that doesn't leave one aspect enough to sour my feelings about the place. My husband and I tried to go twice sans reservation, and were told it was a 2+ hour wait each time, so a reservation here is a MUST! Also, multiple people have mentioned this, but it's worth saying again. The noise level here is deafening. On our first visit, with another couple, we all found the experience to be absolutely phenomenal, 5 stars without question, and we left so incredibly excited to have Louie's in our neighborhood even though I was initially skeptical. We had a lovely brunette server, and all four of us loved our dishes. Poutine for the table, porchetta for me, buffalo chicken mac and cheese for the mister, gnocchi and shortribs for our friends. We thought the wines seemed a little overly priced, but we enjoyed our selection regardless. My husband and I visited the second time for dinner on a weeknight and had a nice experience, a great server, still a bit noisy, but it seemed like they were tweaking the food, which wasn't quite as good as our first visit. We had the cheese tray, which was wonderful, I had short ribs and mister stuck with the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. Different and mixed noodles in the mac and cheese which made it appear as if they were throwing in leftovers or something. Neither of us enjoyed our food as much, but had a very nice conversation with our server and one of the owners. 4 stars this time. For our next trip, we went with the same couple as our first visit, and had made a reservation, but somehow it was lost. To the Gaf we go, so all was not lost. They did give us some free appetizer gift certificates, so bonus for the effort since they goofed up on the reservation! Fast forward to this past Friday, I went for dinner with a girlfriend. After yelling at each other at the bar in order to hear each other for a few minutes, we were seated at our table for our reservation I was very excited to see Silver Oak Cab on the specials list, but no price was listed. It was going for $25 / glass. Seriously, this is a lot for that. In any event.... We had a corner table that had noise panels around it so the noise level was improved from my prior experiences, but still loud. I wish they would install some window treatments and more panels to improve this, it's nearly impossible to have a conversation, even if you are right next to your dining companion. Our food was great, we shared the cheese tray, she had the seafood mac and cheese, and I was back to my porchetta order. The issue this time was our server seemed none to pleased with us after we arrived at the table with a full glass of wine, from the bar. We had a nice, yummy, leisurely dinner. We split our bill 50/50 and used one of my free app cards for the cheese tray. When asked if it was removed from the bill, the response was "$37 is not half of $88". He seemed to either really not like us or have been having an off day, but bad timing all around, especially since it was right as we were about to sign our bill. He had waited on me before and was great, so not sure what hapeped here. So overall, again, a nice dinner, but ending with a snarky comment from the waiter. They are so close here, I will keep trying!

First let me say the food was outstanding. My reason for only 3 stars has nothing to do with the food and everything to do with the noise. I went to dinner with 2 friends, sat at a regular 4 top table and we had an extremely hard time hearing each other talk. The noise level was equivalent to a bar with a band playing. I actually had a headache by the time we left. Now on to the positive. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the Oysters Louie to start and they were perfectly cooked with a habanero aioli and balsamic drizzle that rounded out the flavors. One friend had the pulled pork and butternut squash flatbread and the other had pork gnocchi. Both were really good, but the gnocchi stood out. I believe it had Italian sausage, prosciutto, and pork shoulder in it. I had the shrimp and grits. This dish had a ton of shrimp in it. My friends kept eating off my plate because it was so good. I really want to go back, so hopefully they can do something with the noise level.

This is one of my favorite brunch places in the city. Bottomless mimosas? Check. Macaroni and cheese omelette? Wait, what? Check! Chorizo gravy? No, seriously, what? Check!! This place is fantastic. The chorizo gravy is a must try, even as a side to breakfast potatoes. The crab eggs benedict was not bad, but the Mac and cheese omelette was really unique and delicious. My favorite is the bottomless mimosas with a variety of juices that they will mix for you. They also serve brunch on Friday which is amazing. My only complaint is there is no real waiting area.

Shared the shrimp Diablo and Pork Gnocchi with my wife. Sauces were very similar but great flavor. Gnocchi were super good but different than I've ever had. Overall great meal, neat atmosphere only reason for not being a 5 is value for Sangria Wednesday special just isn't there. Sangria was just ok and not even worth special pricing.

I love love love this place! Have been weekdays and weekends for brunch, dinner and drinks. The lobster poutine, pork gnocchi and corned beef hash are all awesome. They used to have AMAZING shrimp and gritcakes on the brunch menu, but replaced with regular grits (haven't tried them, but they don't seem appealing). I love going for Sunday brunch and indulging in the bottomless mimosas. 4 flavors to choose from and you can mix. Sometimes they're a little slow on the refills, but maybe that's just me being a lush. They won't take brunch reservations after 10am, but you can order said mimosas while you wait ;). Always busy at dinner time. We usually sit at the bar and choose wines from the list of open (and thus discounted) bottles. They also make some good cocktails. They have live music in the basement on the weekends. It's nice, but I feel like the service takes a bit of a hit down there. I'd rather sit at the bar upstairs. In writing this review I'm reminded that it's been about a month and I need to get back ASAP!

A wine bar without the vintages listed on the menus... And no decanter in house...this is a wine bar? The staff seems to be very frustrated as well as the manager and 2 wait staff agree with me as I heard another one complain that she has had no training to their standards. I appreciate the smaller restaurant group concept but if you're going to keep opening venues and using your investors money then make sure you do it well or the purse strings shall close. I went ahead and bought your $80 Paul Hobbs (double the market price) crossbarn but next time I am in the mood to drink wine with friends I'll consider the other options I have to spend my money.... You don't seem to care enough to make my patronage worthwhile. Food.... We had a wedge salad but they use romaine instead of iceberg. Had the Fish and Chips..... Delicious, your kitchen knows how to fry. The batter held onto the fish wonderfully and the color was perfect...the house made tarter was awesome. Fries were crispy and flavorful the brussel sprout coleslaw was a nice touch. Maybe you should consider a Fish & Chip pub instead of a wine bar.

(5)Sarah L.
(3)Angela M.

(4)Eddie H.

(3)R M.

(4)Jason B.

(5)Reed N.
(4)Jillian C.
(4)Jennifer S.
Bottomless mimosas!
(4)Jon P.
Very nice place. Generous portions, good price. GF options are clearly marked on the menu. My wife and I had two entrées and four drinks for barely more than a national chain, but the food was MUCH better than a national chain. My wife enjoyed her vineyard blend (I don't drink wine). Their open bottle sales policy is favorable; if you buy two glasses, they open anything in the rack, and you're not expected to buy the whole bottle yourself.
(5)Rachael C.
Awesome wine selection and knowledgable staff. Plus you can make your reservation on yelp! So easy!
(4)Erica M.
(5)Micah S.

(5)Katie O.

Have the lobster poutine ..... yummy. And have lots of red wine. Double yummy. WIll complete this review later.

(3)Mark H.
Had dinner at Louie's Wine dive for the first time. I had the shrimp and grits and it was absolutely wonderful. Service was great as well. I will definitely return.
(4)Susan S.
wish our service had been better, as that can really ruin an evening out. We sat for a while with no greeting, and when she finally made her way over, no apologies, no introduction, just a " do you know what you want to drink?" Hubs had the crab cakes, I had the fish and chips. Solid food.
(4)Lisa D.
We had reservations for 9 for brunch, it became 11. Rick, our server was fabulous and very accommodating. The food was fantastic and the bottomless mimosas were a definite plus!
(5)Chris J.
Happy to be back in KC at the best restaurant in town. Great food, great service, great everything!!!

Had the 4 pork gnocci. It's been a while since I have had a meal this fine. Staff were helpful and extremely pleasant. The chefs look serious back there.

(4)Victoria S.
Great food and drinks! We love coming here for Sunday brunch and bottomless mimosas. The bartenders are all really nice and we enjoy the overall atmosphere. Best to get here early since it gets so busy during brunch!
(5)Josh M.
Great food, great wine, great crew, and a vibe that will make you look forward to your next visit. A real gem of a restaurant... check it out.
(5)Ann H.

(2)Donna Y.
(5)Ashleigh L.
Unique brunch options like chorizo and poached egg pizza, plus you can't beat bottomless mimosas!
(4)Sharon M.
(2)Jennifer O.
Decent wine list... Slightly pricy for the selection offered. Great atmosphere and live music in the basement is an added plus.
(4)Shanique G.
Louie's is wonderful. Great service, delicious food, wonderful mimosas. Got shrimp and grits the first time I went and absolutely fell in love. Bottomless mimosas on Sunday is most definitely worth showing up for! Ask for Andy to serve you! :)
(5)Susan S.
(4)Crystal R.
Awesome omelet. Will definitely need to try out for lunch/dinner. Rick was great server. Atmosphere was nice!
(5)Teague P.
(4)Patrick M.
Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Friendly staff, excellent service and bottomless Mimosas make it my go to breakfast spot. It's crowded, and you'll probably have to wait, but in this case, that's a good thing.
(5)Tim M.
(4)Amber S.

(4)Meghan M.
(4)Taylor J.
The service was okay. I think our server was annoyed with us most of the time. (Maybe having a bad day?) Awesome wine selection and great food. I would go back.

Great FOOD!!!! Yes yes yes!!!! The service is also amazing.... And if you read my other reviews I'm crazy! However this place ROCKS it kicks ass!!!! The food is 1st rate and I really loved how fresh the food is also the kind people who run the place! I love the Shrimp and Grits, and My husband really enjoyed the bottomless mimosas I love the brunch the French toast is super yummy! This place is DELICIOUS and I rarely give 5 stars so eat your heart out... The atmosphere is so cool!!! But the FOOD is the key everything is amazing yes everything!!!

(4)Clayton R.
(3)Jocelyn M.
(4)Amy R.
The french toast was really yummy too.

bathroom is filthy ! i assume mgmt controls both the kitchen and the bathroom ! foof average.

(4)Rachel A.
(4)Jenny P.
(5)Hayley D.
If Jesus and chuck Norris double teamed my mouth it would taste like this! Seriously don't deny your mouth the pleasure it deserves eat the French toast or the lobster poutine or lobster mac or basically anything they cook in the place of the rise of the good lord himself aka the kitchen
(5)Jackie M.
(4)Josh M.
(5)Jennifer C.
Bottle of Silver Oak last night and crab cake Benedict for breakfast. How much better can it get?! Friendly service and cool atmosphere. I prefer to sit at the bar or outdoors. Nice sidewalk seating.
(5)Jordan B.
(4)Anna V.
(5)Michele N.

Louie's never disappoints. You should probably make a reservation to ensure a seat. I really want to go for brunch, but reservations are hard to come by.

(5)Kris T.

(2)Ashely W.

(3)Gina M.
LOVED this little place. The food was fantastic and full of flavor. The wine selection was outstanding, and the wait staff was ok. (lunch experience was excellent, dinner wait staff was less than stellar) The fact that it's a bit of a "dive" is part of its charm!
(4)Jan S.
Midwest chic! This place seems comfortable in its own skin. Who could ask for more than good food, good wine, good cocktails in a comfortable atmosphere served by great staff.
(4)Jason L.
(4)Nikki B.

(4)Cait M.
(3)Avalon C.
(3)Mark L.
(4)Joanne M.

(4)John H.
(5)Diane S.

I adore this place. I've been here several times for brunch. Come for the food, stay for the bottomless mimosas. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is cool and relaxed.

Great idea, great food, Horrible atmosphere. The Wine list is impressive, the food was very good as was the service. our issue was the noise. It was so loud I could not hear across the table.

Drink more wine!

I'll def.

Come for the happy hour! The wines specials are amazing and try the very reasonably priced appetizers. It was not crowded at all and everyone was extremely friendly. This is a must try! You will not be disappointed.

Love this place and the people! Great menu, awesome service and very cool atmosphere. It's a great place to have a private party, too.

My wife, daughter and I enjoy going to a small, locally owned business that serves an interesting, tasty menu, choice wines and beers at a respectable prices.

You want great food? Check! You want great value and selection on wine? Check! You want a custom bourbon ON TAP? Check! Seriously, this place is the real deal and such a refreshing addition to KC and Waldo! Get in, you won't be disappointed. Gnocchi and quinoa are bomb!!!

Great new restaurant. Excellent service, amazing food, exciting menu and good wine list.
